Wireless Ronin Technologies, Inc. was founded in 2000 as a wireless communications development company. Working with various clients on wireless communication projects helped single out digital signage as a new market with tremendous growth potential in diverse industries. In 2003, the RoninCast software suite for dynamic digital signage was launched. Simultaneously, a patent for the RoninCast technology was filed.
RoninCast digital signage software is an award-winning technology that has generated over twenty awards[1] for clients in the areas of interactive innovation[2], environmental design, hospitality, merchandising, and excellence in electronic media. Wireless Ronin's digital menu board application for Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) was named one of the Best New Products of 2008 by Visual Merchandising and Store Design (VMSD) magazine[3].
On August 16, 2007, Wireless Ronin announced it had completed the acquisition of Windsor, Ontario-based McGill Digital Solutions as a wholly owned subsidiary.[4] McGill Digital Solutions was an award winning multimedia company which developed interactive software for digital signage and e-learning based programs.
